War Story:
You have listed Glenn Haukeness as the copilot and W1 Williams as the pilot. I served with all those men in the 68th AHC. Glenn Haukeness was the pilot and W1 Williams was the copilot. The night before they were all killed, I was flight line duty officer. In the morning, as I was leaving the flight line I ran into Richard. I asked him if he would fly that day and he said yes. I asked him who was the AC (aircraft commander) and he replied Mr. Haukeness. We both agreed that Mr. Haukeness was a good pilot and a good man. I went on to my quarters for sleep. Later that day I was awakened by Cpt Gregory who told me that they had been lost. There is more to tell but that is the gist of it. Hamblin, barsoom@charter.net
